1965 Homer
« on: April 07, 2019, 01:22:12 PM »
I'm venturing into uncharted waters for me. I was at the Portland Swap Meet this weekend, and came away with a 1965 BS Homer 50. Bought it from the original owner. They had purchased it new in '65 along with a Sport 60, and were used as pit bikes for a dragster operation, along with teaching 6 children how to ride. I received the original title. Engine tirns over fine. I'll be looking for a kickstart lever and shaft, seat cover, and front turn signal lenses, along with a rear tail light assembly. Bike is really in remarkable shape. It's been stored inside. Any and all replies, suggestions, and part offers are appreciated. Pics to follow.................Kerry

Sorry for the silence, Gene. Just been very busy. Promise I'll look today and reply if no one has beat me to it, or you haven't already figured it out. Thanks.

This is a schematic for the BS-7S.  It also uses a magneto without a coil, so the wiring is probably very similar.  Maybe it will help you determine if your wiring is correct.

There is also a chart on page 21 in the BS-7 Technical Manual downloadable from this site that says the ignition switch grounds the ignition primary coil when in the off position, so that is probably where the issue lies, either in the switch or the connection to ground.
