Person in UK trying to sell me 350 rightside carb covers

Hi All,

Anyone have any knowledge of a gentleman named David Etherington? He is trying to sell me covers supposedly but I have yet to see pictures or speak to him. He requests payment thru Western Union or Moneygram but doesn't use paypal. Makes me nervous, hopefully he is sincere. If anyone knows of him please let me know.

The axiom caveat emptor ALWAYS applies.....
* a principle in commerce: without a warranty the buyer takes the risk
* let the buyer beware

If this guy is a willing and reputable seller, he should go out of his way to provide what you are asking....prior to the transaction.
If he won't provide pics, or speak with you, or communicate by email......then I think this guy is fishing for sucker buyers.

If he doesn't satisfy your questions.......walk....regardless of what he supposedly tells you.

hey mike never use western union 99.9% of the time its a scam .once i was interested in a triumph that was supposedly here  the bloke was in England anyway it smelt fishy i googled his name and address he turned out to be a rocket scientist and his address turned out to be the mint .it was such a load of crap

I'm in the U.K. and have got to know a few owners of BSs and sellers of parts but have not heard that name, also with the payment method I think it's a scam, 99% use PayPal.

Mike, I gotta ask............ how did this person know to contact you? Did you advertise a "want ad" somewhere and he responded to it or was he just "phishing" here on the site and sent you a personal message?

Has anyone here gotten unsolicited offers out of the blue?

With this board growing pretty large, we are having LOTS of people trying to join, just to spam and scam us.

I do my best to delete these type of members, however some of these guys slip in.

If anyone receives a unsolicited message of someone wanting to sell something, please let me know and I will delete them from the board.

If they are not members of the board, I suggest you treat them as likely scam.

Like Ziggy, I'm also in the UK and David Etherington is not a name I know...

I had a similar situation happen after I put out a want ad for CB450 Black Bomber sidecovers and fender. I think someone by that same name and I do remember it was from the UK. I emailed him back but it sounded fishy. He never did email me back.
