« on: July 31, 2011, 12:30:18 AM »
hi guys! i'm new to Bridgstone bikes. I just inherited a Bridgstone through my dad.... and he recently passed away. He left me a bike that needs some work... I don't really know any thing about these type of bikes... also, i couldn't find any paper work regarding the bike... anyone might know the year of my bike? I found a picture that is the exact model! thanks guys.

Looks like a 1971 Bridgestone 200 Mach II/RS.  I have the same bike, color white.  Don't be shy, post some photos.

We all enjoy seeing pictures of the bikes people find.  You can find a free parts manual and also a repair manual to download on this(Richards) site.  Enjoy.

joeramirez,

I've got the same year, model, color (imperial gold) BS.  It's a great little bike that i capable of surpassing 80mph.  I've had mine since 2008 and there have been challenges.  One thing I've learned with mine is rather than fettle with one thing after another, just give it a good maintenance refresh and be done with it.  As you may know, motorcycles don't do so well when they've sat for more than a few years and some of these pore buggers have been sitting for 30+ years.  So, do yourself a favor and have the carbs professionally checked/cleaned, ensure it has good compression in both cylinders, get brand-new spark plugs and depending on the mileage, probably points and condensers.  Also, rectifiers are notoriously bad on these and you'll know because it won't keep the battery charged.  I'm not the pro on this site, but there are some wizards that can assist you when needed.

Hope you enjoy your 200.

Thanks guys. That really give me some insight! I managed to find the service manual and starting to study it. My bike has been sitting for the past 30+ years... so yeah... its going to need a lot of work. I'm going to fix it up little by little and post some pictures. Please feel free to comment and check up. After all, I could use your guys insight. Does anyone know where I can get original factory parts??? later tonight I'm going to take some pics and post them!  ;D

For NOS parts, start out by contacting Richard, the owner of this site.  Steve Reed, also on this site can clean up your carb if you send it to him for a reasonable price.

Run a compression check and clean your fuel system for starters.
