Sorry for the elementary post, but I'm new to the chrome wheel thing. (My other classic bike has aluminum wheels.)
How bad do they have to be (rust-wise) to be non-salvageable, in your opinion? The rear wheel on my BS is very scaley, and there is a one-inch chunk of aluminum missing from the brake opening lip on the hub. Would I be advised to just keep an eye out for an Ebay replacement?
A picture is attached showing the general condition, as well as the brake shoes that were (of course) delaminated from the drum brake. The missing chunk of aluminum on the hub lip is barely visible between the hub and the drum brake.
