Hi!,
I am new to restoring motorcycles and came across a 1970 175cc DT. I have found a lot of parts for it on Fee-Bay but was also wondering what parts had suitable substitutes.
I imagine brake and clutch cables should be able to be replaced by any manuf.
When I do a search for parts is there another make and model that has equivalent parts like: rims, hubs, pistons and cylinders, etc.?
What parts can be replaced with generic ones?
???
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
I can add a couple of other parts:-
Small end bearings for 90/100/175 Bridgestones are the same as Yamaha RD200 items.
Piston pins for 90/175 Bridgestones are the same as Suzuki A100 pins.
Sorrry I don't have the part numbers to hand, but I'm sure a Suzuki/Yamaha dealer could find them for you.

I do not understand this thread, BS parts like mufflers were not used on other bikes. BS 175 cc Crank bearings, pins, pistons are available through the regular BS sources at much cheaper prices than the prices from Suzuki dealers. But I guess one could always make a rat bike by installing a Yamaha SX11 fuel tank on a BS 175, may be cool..... Jeff Bar

A couple of us that race the 175's are using Suzuki RM85 2nd oversize pistons. However, to use them correctly, you have to shave the top of the cylinder or run without a head gasket, plus reshape the head to keep a reasonable compression ratio. The Suzuki pistons have a .035 inch shorter pin-to-top distance and a flatter top.

Found that Honda C100 contact breakers fit my HS175. Beware though. A Honda needs 1 LH and 1RH. My HS needed 2 x Honda LH. Check e bay for pictures before buying

The Kawasaki 1000 Z points fit the BS200 and you can also buy the felt for lubing the points
