Hi folks!

Can anyone help with this query. I recently bought a Bridgestone job lot with pistons in it that I presumed at the time to be Bridgestone but now I'm not so sure. First of all none of them have the size in the STD or .25 or .50 format. Two of them say 39.50 on the piston head one says 39.84 and the other is 39.95. None of them carry a BS trademark but then I'm guessing Bridgestone might not have made their own pistons. After much scrutiny I can just make out that inside the piston one of them says METEOR. They do look extremely similar to the one that has come out of my bike but there is also a minute difference in the distance from the top of the gudgeon pin to the top of the piston compared to the one I took out.

Would much appreciate it if anyone can help.

Thanks.

Hi, Stella,

It's me again ...... You're right that Bridgestone didn't cast their own pistons. genuine BS parts were made by ART, and you can see an "ART" marking cast inside the lower skirt. ART made OEM pistons for many of the Japanese makes - they were a sort of oriental equivalent to "Hepolite".

One of my spare 50 pistons is a pattern item, but there's no indication of who made it. The good news is that the standard BS rings will fit it, though.

Hi,

You asked about a small Suzuki offered on eBay. I've attached a couple of pics to show what it could look like when rebuilt. There's a Mistletoe Green (a.k.a. Snot green) M15 and a black  M12

Thanks for that Graham.

I'm pretty sure the pistons in the job lot are actually for a 50cc Puch, then. Very, very close to the BS 50 but not quite the right ones.

And thanks for the photos. Very nice! I didn't go for the Suzuki but now I've seen your pics I'm kind of disappointed I didn't. I particularly like the M12. I'll get the BS 50 done first and then see what next.

Thanks for the info.
