Houston we have a problem! These are the numbers on my 1970 MKII SS-7. Frame # TA-1 35389 11 under number of 175 build. Serial # 23B04490 Engine # TA-2 04456. This would show 762 built in 1 month and 366 built in the next 9 months according to #s collected in Graham's Build documents. My question is the _7 of on sales brochure designate year or 175 frame? Also NADA value guide Mach II SS in 1969 and checkered in 1970. I understand people like their privacy, but can we please get all three numbers when posting so we don't have to guess about how our bikes got the #s. I've seen BS200 serial # with 175 engine and frame numbers and my 1970 mid-build 200 on frame that may be from end of 175 build. Did early 200's ever have TA-2 stamped frames? We may never know unless can get all 3 numbers posted when questioning a bikes history! After seeing Old bs guy post #s 23I00180 Frame TA-1 31002 engine TA1-00224 is it possible 175 frames were used throughout 200 build up to serial 5000? If engine # on Old bs guy is TA1-00224 is TA2-00224 this makes sense! This would mean 175 build is around 30,850. Graham also stated frame #'s over 37,000 Late model 200's? I,m thinking the slow down in production was because they had to build new frames. Is it possible 35,400 175 frames were built and TA-2 labeled frames started at 23?05000. Anybody know when first TA-2 stamped frame appears in any board discussions or posts?

I have two 200's. One is just a frame and the other a roller. The numbers on the frame are TA1-30952 and 23I-00131. The roller #'s are TA1-35159 and 23B-04262. Both under the 5000 mark. I have the motor to the roller somewhere but it might be hard to figure which side cover went to that motor. The motors are stripped down and all the side covers in a bin. I'll have a look and see when I have a chance at the range of TA2 side cover #'s (I have a few 200 motors).

Hi
You will also find numbers to the right of the drive sprocket. I believe these were stamped on after casting to match the casings after machining.

Thanks for the numbers. I went to postings on 175-200 and found that the 175 frames were used on all 200's and still can't see any TA-2 stamped frames. On the 175 models why are the serial numbers so much higher than The frame numbers they sit on? Also why were the early 200 engines stamped TA1. In the frame number post he lists 3 frames TA1-30524 ser# 16R32349, TA1-30501 ser#16R32326 and TA1-25615 ser#16R31243! That would be 1083 bikes and 4886 frames in one month. This is also the parts book month changes for parts. How long were the 175 and 200 made at the same time before they before the 175 ended production? I saw 1970 sales brochure offering DT175S ,175HS,MKII/RS-7 and MKII/SS-7 did they have bikes they couldn't sell made in 1968 they offered up as 1970's?

My Mach 11 SS is Frame No TA2- 036722. the engine No is TA2- 05714. The plate No is 23 M 05703. If i read this right is my bike January 1971 ?. Does this help with your post ?

Perfect. The reason graham saw a 37000 Was because they changed from TA-1 to TA-2 and kept frame sequence numbers from 175 frames going. I'm Thinking ser #04500 may start TA-2 Frames and the next ? were the BS200 checkered bikes. All chromed tank model were made in japan! All painted tank models made by Rockford Motor Co in USA. tvrich is your bike a checkered? This will make chrome tank bikes BS200 MII/SS and MII/RS bikes, Painted tank bikes BS200 MII/SS-7 and MII/RS-7 made in USA until checkered start have the -7 shown in sale brochures. TVRICH is yours checkered?

Its a checkered bike, i was going to post a photo but have yet to figure out how to do it!

Im not sure if its absolutely original as it has the checkered finish but not the circular 200 badge etc, could it be a crossover bike between the 2 styles ?
-
I believe the crossover to checkered was at about 04501 on ser # tags and there on TA-2 stamped frames beginning about TA-2 35401 and 3300 checkered bikes were built to total BS200 built at 7800. From Febuary 1970 the build was way down until Nov1970, this may have been retooling time for checkered model. Very Nice Looking Bike Ya Got There!! Yes that would make yours 1971 BS200 MII/SS Checkered. Only bike i saw stickered 200 was an RS. in Gold paint. I believe they ran out of MII badges which were riveted so side plate changed to stickers. yours should be 1200 or so of 3300 built
