It looks like it has fur on it. Is it bees or wasps?

Is it bees or wasps?

Not sure, but I'll soon find out!  ;D

I just got off the phone with Animal Control and they're sending someone out. They're not honey bees and they're not yellow jackets. They're tiny things, about 1/2 inch in size or smaller.

I googled "wasps in Texas" and apparently, there's a rare Mexican wasp found in southern Texas that actually produces honey. One of the few in the world that does. You got to be careful though, as it (the honey) can be poisonous depending on what flower they got the nectar from.

Animal control came said they’re Mexican paper wasps (not the honey kind) and their sting is about the same as a fire ant. Said to just spray the thing with soapy water and that’ll kill them & destroy the nest.

Success!

The wasp nest is no more. Used a fertilizer type suction bottle filled with soap and attached it to the hose and blasted them. I waited till this morning when the temperature was cooler (mid 50’s) so they wouldn’t be active and were all on the nest. Worked perfectly. They didn’t even have a chance to fly off the nest and for good measure, I sprayed the straggler's on the ground with Black Flag wasp spray. Neeext...  ;D
