Title: dt 175 speedo noise

Recently purchased a 67 dt175. Originally the speedo worked great. Now the needle goes all the way around and makes a grinding noise in the headlight bucket. Bought a new speedo and it does the same thing. When I loosen the speedo cable under the speedo the noise quits. Any input will be appreciated.

       Check that both ends of the inner cable are able to fully seat into the speedo or wheel drive unit and are not being forced in when the nut is tightened.

Both ends go in easily and both ends look undamaged. Have greased the cable and the wheel drive unit seems to be working fine.

Finally got speedo working. All it took was a few drops of oil in the hole the speedo cable goes in.
