Howdy folks,

I started out 2018 by picking up a Bridgestone DT175 I found on Craigslist, In Hazel Park, just west of Detroit. This is my first Bridgestone motorcycle and I am pretty excited about it. I am obsessed with the 1972-1974 Honda CB350F (tiny four cylinder)... so most of my motorcycle history involves smaller Honda fours.

I am 24 and went to college for Automotive Restoration, in Kansas, where I met some awesome friends and got my first taste of old motorcycles. I'm fairly certain my Bridgestone spent virtually it's entire life in northern Michigan based off the sellers info. It also appears to have been parked in 1975 (judging by the original 1975 Michigan plate). I plan on preserving it's originality while making it mechanically sound again. I am currently basket-case deep in a CL200 scrambler right now, so this 175 will have to wait until late winter/early spring. I'll attach some photos!

That looks like a keeper.  You'll likely need a bunch of rubber parts, maybe a couple of cables, but it shouldn't be too bad.  I picked up a 175HS from Wisconsin a couple of years ago with an '83 plate. It was a  little rustier than yours, but I kept it original other than tires, miscellaneous rubber parts and seat cover. Yours looks better than mine was.  I did have to replace the center crankshaft seal, but you may not need to dig that deep.

Thanks!

Everything on the bike with the exception of the seat and and grips are very dry. She certainly sat for a long time... so new rubbers and seals will be in it's future for sure! I'll have to see how the cables feel after being cleaned and lubed. By the looks of it, this bike has been kept out of the sun and harsh elements.

If you look closely, you'll notice someone mounted the choke leaver on the left headlight ear! The thing I was most excited about was the tank inside. Looking forward to learning from everyone

The inside of the tank looks great.

Be sure to use this site's assets. (manuals, parts books, etc.)
Also when in doubt ask questions.

Please take and submit photos of your progress.

Enjoy the adventure of restoring your find.

Welcome to group.

Thanks, Randy!

I'll certainly make updates when I get around to this project. Looking forward to learning more about these bikes.
