50 Sport side covers

Did the 50 Sport come with plastic side covers?

Hi,

Yes, the 50 Sport, 60 Sport and all non oil injection BS90 models came with the same plastic side covers. The only difference was the enamel emblem on each side. Also. the oil injection 90s and the 100 Sport used the same left hand cover, but had a different right hand cover to allow for the oil tank.

There were some identical left hand metal side covers made (I found one to use on my early 90), but I'm not sure which model they were for. (I would guess they were probably used on late oil injection 90s and the 100 Sport).

Thanks for the info - yes this definitely puts my mind at ease. I bought a 90 Sport with oil injection that has very rusted out metal side covers. I was looking on ebay for replacements (very difficult to find) and found plastic covers for the 90 sport from Taiwan. They are obviously cheap aftermarket replacements. The 50 Sport I bought has the plastic sides which made me wonder if they were also some cheap aftermarket replacement part.

Sorry to disagree:
My Pre-mix 90 Deluxe and 90 Mountain came with metal side covers (both sides); my 50 Sport had plastic side covers. (Bikes sold originally in Australia)
