Title: air intake/oil lines gtr
Post by: coxy on October 06, 2011, 03:51:59 PM
g day all in reinstalling the oil lines to the check valves i discovered that there is no grommet  for the hole in the casing to the carbs /pump   for the lines to pass through and there is nothing under the dynamo to prevent more air and dust grit water getting in .i looked in the parts book and nothing .  i have been assuming that the air intake system is the same as a normal air box .would this not affect the pressure between left and right having a extra hole in one side basically .even though i can just cut out 2 pieces of rubber to fix this i am curious .cheers.
please disregard this post as i have just found grommet and part#

As originally built, the 350 had a triangular rubber grommet with three holes it to fit the hole in the casing allowing the oil lines to pass through. In reality, though these are a pig to fit and the three oil lines pretty much fill the hole in the casing anyway. I've run mine for years without the grommet with no apparent ill effects. The gap around the oil lines is pretty small in comparison with the air filter intake hole, and the chances of any foreign object finding its way into the carb bellmouth via the oil line hole seems pretty remote.

When the engines is assembled, you can't see whether the grommet is there or not, so do without it and just ride the bike.
