Hello, I was wondering what other people did to polish there aluminum parts. I'm using a cloth wheel and soft metal compound and it just doesn't want to take the compound off the piece, it like sticks to it and won't buff it out. I was wondering if the compound is supposed to be really hard or more putty like? The stuff I just bought is like rock solid.

I used 'Mothers' Mag & Aluminum Polish with the cloth buffing wheel.... did a pretty good job for me. :)

I have used compound blue first and white last and if your buffing pad is dirty you will get a black residue on it. You can remove it with Autosol on a cloth and then repolish with a clean cloth. To remove the dirt from your buffer you can use a saw blade and them start the process again. the allow will look better than new it will look like chrome.

i use a fine wet and dry paper and then autosol or liquid reflection smeared over the part on a buffing wheel .starting at the farthest point and working back so it always has a bit of polish and doesn't run dry this will stop the black most of the time . I have just got a dentist sand blaster very small and fine also a dentist polisher its 1/4 horse very quiet and powerful enough that I can force a metal rod into it and it does not stop spinning and runs a lot slower than a bench grinder I am going to test it out soon will post some pics

Coxy - what kind of dentist uses a sand blaster? Makes my teeth hurt just thinking about it.

its a micro unit I think it must be used for dentures maybe .though it does say for stain removal .it does have grit I think it is soda or the likes
