Please help me identify this Bridgestone model.
« on: July 31, 2014, 01:24:42 PM »
I bought this bike back in '95 or so, rode it a tad, and since then it's been in storage. I've newly taken it out and for the life of me I can't figure out which model it is. According to the pink slip it's a 1970 model so that has led me to think it's the 100 GP yet the pipes look like they are from a scrambler version. It might be a bit of a Frankenstein built by the last owner. Who knows. Bars are definitely not stock...

Any help would be much appreciated! And on a side note, I love the styling of these bikes!

*Amendment: upon further research in the gallery section of this site, perhaps this is a 175 or 200. I remember the guy who sold it to me saying it was a 175 but I also remember it being pretty slow. However, the double pipes point to a larger motor size than a 100cc.

Probably a 200 by year (ish) and color. Look for the Vin Tag. If it starts in 23 it's a 200. 16 says it's a 175.

Hey Bert. I thought it was a '20' but I'll look again. Should I be looking at the vin/frame numbers or the engine numbers? Both are on the registration.

The vin frame number. The one on the right side tag attached to the frame near the shock upper rear shock mount.

The cylinders appear to be 200's. Rear shock color and separate speedo/headlight  match the 200's.

That's easy - the bike has a separate pod-mounted speedo.which makes it a BS200SS ("Mach II-SS"). I think it's been resprayed but the gold and black colour scheme mahes it a 1970 model. Apart from the speedo, headlight, and motor the bike is the same as the BS175 Hurricane scrambler.

Hope that helps,

Graham

Very helpful, all. Especially good to know it's not a 100! Now I just have to decide whether it's better to restore and ride this bad boy or sell it, as-is!

Definitely 200 cylinders. they have the die ejector pin notches in the 5th cylinder fin, the 175 doesn't.  That bike looks clean enough to make a good rider with only a cleaning and minor work to get it running (assuming there isn't a major hidden problem).

Sell as is. It's probably only worth about $200 but I'll give you $250 cause you seem like a nice guy.
