That makes it even better Man! Recycled rims that look that good...nice work. I wonder what Reed thinks? He loves stuff with the letter Z in it!  Mark.

Paul,
In 1968 Yamaha had a 100 YL-2 that was a rotary valve one cylinder two stroke engine and i think it was in red.
Looks a little like a Bridgestone 90.
Thanks.
Steve.

ziggy,
Wow!!! I thought they were pricey here in The States, but those UK prices have us beat by a mile!
8,000 - 11,000 GBP = $12,936 - $17,784
 :o
That's some fairly serious money
Maybe I should go into the motorcycle export business.

An Unfortunate Temptation

Very tempting ZT. Unfortunately that sentiment seems to be growing. While we have been looking past all these "sleeping beauty's", elsewhere the demand is steadily growing. We will be the ones who wake up one day to find them gone.  Mark.

Commentary on moonpup's CL links:

Very nice. Best of the listings. Reasonable mileage @ 11,800

Pretty rough. Set up as a drag bike. The owner has the front fender mounted backasswards. ::) A tough sell, IMO.

Reasonable condition. Seems mostly all there. Definite signs of patina, not to mention several layers of dirt. Seems like a good wash job would help sell the bike. Definitely restorable.

Very decent. Price reasonable. We don't know the mileage which might effect pricing to some extent.

I have had a few over the past couple of years. Never really had the interest in them to keep one very long though.

Update on my earlier H2 for sale links:

#1:  The auction ended at $8,800. Reserve not met.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230778407568
It was apparently almost immediately relisted within two hours (I just got notification this morning).
When I went to the new auction ad a few minutes ago, the bike was already gone.
Auction ended yesterday, the 26th, just before midnight PDT.
Sold for $10,000!   :o

#2:  This auction ended because "the item is no longer available".
$9,650 was the last bid, but the ad says reserve wasn't met.
It must have sold locally or there might have been some trading going on outside eBay.

Looks like the cost of having fun with vintage bikes is in a bull market if you are a seller.

Mr. Reed, if you still have an H2 back in the UK, its probably better than having money in the bank. All you have to do is to decide when to sell and cash in, big time.   ;)

Regards,
Steve

This was an H2A that I sold about 5 years ago...and yes, from a financial point of view, I should have hung on to it, but prices were rising quite a bit even then...and besides, it was a case of 'needs must' as there was the divorce settlement to pay  >:(.

It was one of only two H2As that was first registered on the Isle of Man. I really enjoyed my time with it but don't think I'll ever be prepared to pay the current prices to get another and anyway, as times passes, I much prefer the Japanese bikes that you don't see at classic shows so often, like the Bridgestones of course and early kawasakis etc.
