Turn Signals
« on: April 22, 2014, 02:03:32 AM »
If anyone is interested in putting turn signals on their 175/200, here's what I've done (but of course I'm keeping the original parts.!): I ordered reproduction "Honda Turn Signals" (these are 2-wire units) from ebay seller "mrssuperdeals". I ordered reproduction "Honda Turn Signal Stems" from ebay sellers "z1-parts-inc" and "road_ready". I ordered a "Pair Universal Chrome -(they are actually aluminum!) - Motorcycle Handlebar Mirror Mounts" and "Motorcycle, Dirt Bike, ATV Control High/Low Beam, Turn Signal, Horn" from ebay seller "cenn2010". On these turn signals, the black wire is "hot" and the black/white wire is ground. I put white heat shrink (& colored it Red with a permanent marker to remind me that it's the hot lead!) on the black wire and then pulled it (& then the black/white wire) thru the turn signal stem (NOTE: it's a VERY tight fit - you'll have to cut the bullet connector off of the ground wire!). Secure the turn signal to the stem. The threaded part of the stem is 10mm. Screw a nut onto the stem and then place a lock washer on the stem. Now, screw the turn signal stem into the "Handlebar Mirror Mounts" (I removed the phillips head screws from the mirror mounts and replaced them with allen head screws - the threads are 4mm). You're now ready to mount the Front turn signals to the handlebar.  NOTE: I would use an electronic flasher relay so that you can use either incandescent OR LED bulbs.  :)
