« on: February 22, 2011, 12:06:50 AM »
Hello, I have found a bridgestone 100 trail i believe it to be a 68, it does run however there is an issue with the carb, Under the slide there is a cork piece Just wondering if this is supposed to be there, or if its something added for another purpose? any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

I've got a 100 Trail.   To the best of my knowledge,  Bridgestone only made the 100 Trail for one year (1969) and then went to the 100 TMX.   The same tube frame, but different handlebars, etc.    I believe the original color was blue only,  as with the 90 trail.

I'm not aware of any cork part under the side cover or in the carb area.     I ended up buying a new carb for mine.    Had to rejet it since it wasn't an original replacement.   Had to transfer the carb top cover piece where the cables go in because it was different on the new carb.

Well the carb does work alright, just doesn't idle, the cork piece is in the carb where the main needle comes down I just don't know if this is maybe for storage from original owner, however i would remove it to find out but its rather brittle and if it is necessary it would stink to break it. Thank you for you help thus far though.

Erniez, there should be no cork or other foriegn materials in your carb. Give it a good cleaning, and even though its cork, try not to let any get in the motor.  Mark.

I wonder if the cork is part of the rotary valve coming apart!
Just keep a eye on it.
Thanks.
Steve.

Erniez,
Any chance of a picture of the cork in the carb?  As they say, that'd be worth at least 1000 words.

well here is a picture i did remove the cork piece, but have not tried to start up and run yet, Figured theres no logical reason for it to be there so might as well give it a shot.
