Battery Options???
« on: November 16, 2010, 05:34:22 PM »
I am new to the Bridgestone world and have just picked up a 66' Dual Twin and am working on getting it restored. Although I have run into a problem. Does anyone know what type of battery will fit it? I have looked all over and cannot seem to find any information.

I have 2 new original dry cell batteries marked on the box as 12N5.5-4B that I filled and charged one just like them and used on my 67 175DT.  Not sure if they are the correct ones, but I got them from the original Bridgestone motorcycle dealer shop when they closed in 72.   Nancy

The standard battery for the BS175/200 and BS350 is a 12N5-3B.

The 12N5.5-3B is ususlly slightly longer. It should fit the GTR, but when I tried one in my Dual twin it was just a bit too long to allow me to re-fit the frame side cover. Presumably the actual dimension varies slightly from different battery manufacturers, but I'l bet the 12N5.5-3B battery came close to the side cover on your bike - I guess you were lucky.

To be on the safe side, I'd suggest sticking with the smaller 12N5-3B on the 175cc and 200cc bikes.

Thanks. I got the 12N5-3B. It wasn't very expensive and I'll have my bike up and running in no time. Thanks for you input and help!

I might buy this battery so I can get funky and mount it somewhere 'secret'.
