MK11SS Found, came with an interesting story...

So I saw this 1970 MK11SS posted locally on craigslist, and jumped on it quick. Bought it from an 83 year old man who purchased it in 1980 from the original owner. Little over 4k miles. The guy had done some work to it and had it running in '82, then lost interest and stashed it away in a shed where it never saw the light of day again, until now. It's complete and original, engine turns but carbs are seized. Will need the usual going over for a bike that has stood for 30 years.



Haven't made any progress on my DT175 complete restoration lately, so maybe I can get this one running in the meantime. Just what I need, another project.
So I was chatting with the guy I bought this from, and he starts telling me about a guy not too far away in Danboro, PA who, some time ago, had an old shop and bought a ton of NOS parts when some BS dealers closed up. He had it all stored above the shop. Split with his ol lady and began living in the shop, along with the bridgestone parts. Then one day the shop catches fire and burns down, along with all the parts and the owner! How tragic!

I posted a link to that craigslist ad here yesterday and saw it was deleted early today. I knew at that price, someone was going to jump on it quickly.  You got a great bike at a great price! I hope it brings you years of enjoyment.

That is a nice bike.  You should keep it original.

Is the green original?  If it is, I like it even more.  Very different.  Keep us posted.

Did come with a title and owners manual (cover missing). The green is original and I intend to keep it all original. Interesting, as I have not seen another 200 in this color scheme. It went quick, the guy sold it too cheap. I think he just passed it on for what he paid for it in 1980! By the time I got there six other people had called. Don't really have room for another bike right now but I just couldn't resist. Not sure if I will hang on to this one long term, or just clean it up and get it running and pass it on. We'll see how it turns out. It needs the carbs done, intake rubbers for one side (he had replaced the other side in '82), oils flushed, fork seals, fuel tank cleaned out, etc.
