My best luck has been with AV gas. I go to the the airport and buy several cans of it. The stuff is awesome in using it for winter storage. If it does evaporate, it leaves absolutely NO residue. The tank will be as clean as the day it was made. Of course the carbs will be that way also. I attempt to mix at least 25% AV gas in my tank. In my four stroke engines, I will also add some 2 stroke oil at about 10% to help coat the inside of the mufflers. Them old Honda 750 SOHC mufflers are expensive and this works well for getting them hot enough to dry them out, plus the oil to preserve them. When I stored my '62 Corvette back around '92 it had AV gas in it. When I pulled it out of storage, the gas had evaporated, but the tank was CLEAN. It also prevents vapor locking on the old system where the fuel pump sits below the exhaust manifold. The car will vapor lock if the temps. are over 85ºF and I have pump gas in. With AV gas, no problem. Too me another good case for it, is at the airport itself. They had a post hole digger they claim had not been used for over 12 yrs. It had though been sitting with a full tank of AV gas. It started and ran well after giving it 3 pulls on the starter.
