Found a pair of mikuni VM22 for Kawasaki A1 samurai, sitting in the ultrasonic cleaner right now, my engine case and other parts are coming back from vapor blasting, painted the side covers, zinc plated a bunch of parts, still need to make an order from Richard.. but hopefully the bike is going to be together this year before summer!

i'm looking for a new crank, sr175 or dt175..

Sorry, Greg, I never got back to you on the SR175 carbs.  The ones I had were somewhat beat and I don't really want to part with them, anyway.  I've ran a set of the A1 Samurai carbs on my roadracer.  They have enricheners to help start it so I didn't have to squirt raw gas into the carb throats when it was cold.  You can hook those up using a DT175 choke cable and lever if you want, but that won't look stock for an SR.  We used to start the SR's by leaning them way over to each side which let the carbs spill fuel into the crankcase and carb cavities, which provided enough extra fuel to start a cold engine. Sometimes you had to do it two or three times.

Hi Karl,

no problem, i used the A1 carbs to rebuild the SR175 full carb and the naked top half that was with the bike, funny to see that mikuni were stamping the bike model on the top of the mounting flange "TA1" for the SR and "A1" for the suzuki.. (i think, i'm not in front of it now)
Still waiting for my parts from the vapor blast, will get the SR cylinder bored up by boretech + nikasil and will use the kawasaki RM85 pistons from them too.
Still need to finish my list for Richard!

Sorry for being away for so long, i've been busy with other projects, now that winter is coming in SF, i'll will start again on the SR.
done:
-welded, cleaned - powder coated frame
- plated some bolts and nuts
- vapor blasted engine cases, heads and jugs.
- received new parts from Richard
- got flanged rims for the wheels.
- primed rear mudgard
-painted air intake covers

To do:
- Get cylinder bored and nikasil plated
- Get matching RM85 pistons
- modify DT175 crank (plugs and remove oil pump drive gear)
- Get the wheels laced with SS spokes + knobby tires
- find rubber boots for the ceriani 32mm fork
- work on the seat (weld tabs, cast foam, make seat cover)
- Prep gas tank for chrome plating (was sandblasted but might need repair/brazing.
- find tiny lights to make it street legal (barely:)
- mount everything!
- have fun ridding it!

If you weren't already planning to, get the RM pistons ahead of time and have the cylinders sized to them. When using DT175 cylinders for my road racer, the cylinders needed about an extra .0005 diameter for the RM pistons over or they'd seize easily. Use the Wiseco recommended clearance.
