They say in the articles that the lasers are super quick, operating in nano seconds instead of milliseconds. What about the electrical system controlling the lasers? I doubt it is that fast, so the lasers will probably be slowed to that speed, in other words... the weakest link in the chain will restrict the lasers.
Also, the lasers will be inexpensive to build? Spark plugs cost pennies each to manufacture, its gonna be hard to beat that.
We already have ultra low emission cars and even some zero emission cars. We have lots of engines in production TODAY that have lost the EGR system because NOX emissions are so low that it is no longer needed.
We need these people to quit beating a dead horse (the internal combustion gas engine) and focus their talents on developing better batteries for electric cars.
BTW... NOX molecules are a product of heat and pressure. It isn't caused by incomplete combustion of the fuel air mixture ( the article says burning leaner will cure NOX emissions because the over abundance of oxygen will cause more hydrocarbons to be burnt). It makes me wonder about the credibility of these guys or whomever wrote the article.
Just some devil's advocate thinking on my part
