I got the 350 out a few days ago in order to fit a new set of expansion chambers. When I pulled the first OEM muffler off, I was shocked at the weight. My intention was to replace the missing set of chambers that were on the bike when it was being hillclimbed and regain any lost performance with the new lungs, but I had overlooked the more immediate benefit of lightening the machine. I saved all the factory exhaust components from both sides, including the front frame brackets and bolts, then put the scale to work. An astounding 17.4 lbs of Iron. Unlike the old set, the new pipes are designed to route under the center of the bike, so the center stand had to be removed. The stand, spring and mounting hardware, along with all the cutting slag and brackets removed from the frame totaled up another 5.6 lbs! That's 23 lbs of steel in all! The new pipes with aluminum silencers and mounting hardware weigh in at 9.2 lbs. A total savings of 13.8 lbs. Where I come from,14 pounds off a bike can mean a lot, from time shaved off the clock, to one more lap on the fuel or maybe the difference needed to pull one more tooth higher gearing. Thanks,Mark.
