This is a picture of the new crankcase and the side cover.

At one time the chain came off etc.
Thanks.

Bridgestone 100 TMX 1971.
Its time to work on my Bridgestone TMX 100.
With some of my work commitments out of
The way, i pulled the engine out of the frame.
So this week i will pull the engine apart and
I think new crankcase is in order along with
New mains and crankshaft seals and check
Out the top end etc.
Thanks.
Steve.

Hi Steve,
We just got home from our mission. Looks like you are making great progress as usual on the TMX. I am anxious to get started on mine. Another project, that's all I need. Talk soon.

I pulled the TMX engine apart today it needs new crank seals and bearings.
Richard has new piston and rings in stock and i think i will replace the clutch
Plates they have a hard life in small engines same goes for pistons and rings
Etc,i will say this Bridgestone engines are well made, in the picture i am using
A puller to split the crankcases.
Thanks.
Steve.

Oil pump gear B part number 1552-5010 just starting to split as you can see in the picture.
Got that in time!  :)
Thanks.

The piston is in good shape the lower ring is stuck that's why the compression is low
Its not worth cleaning up the piston, the price for a new piston and rings is very reasonable.
And the bore is in condition, more parts from Richard!!
Thanks.
Steve.

If you are replacing points or crankshaft oil seal it would be a wise move to get the Bridgestone fly wheel puller.
I know you can make one, but this puller is well made and low cost to buy.
Thanks.

The clutch plates are worn so i will be replacing in a set.
Most of the time if the rear shocks are worn you will need.
Clutch plates too much weight on the motorcycle or maybe
Doing jumps anyway time to order, the crankshaft big end
Bearing is in good shape and the con rod, its coming together.
Thanks.

Save that old piston and rings.  Richard has replacements reasonably priced now, but 20 years from now, when those are gone, people will be paying big bucks for salvageable used ones.   ;D

That split plastic oil pump gear is a little worrying. Is that a known fault with these bikes? When I restored my own TMX it had only done 516 miles from new so the gear was OK, but is it a good idea to take the cover off and check the gear occasionally.

Also, how about the 350 engine - that uses a similar plastic gear to drive the oil pump?

HI ,  disc valve  , i have also done a tmx100 an the gear showed some split area in the gear , the bike had about 2100 miles ,  an a tmx i got for parts from mike was also starting to split ,  the taka i bought new in 72  , after a year of use  i had to replace  the clutch friction plates an while in there i noticed the gear was showing so stress at this point , , i think this was a weak point , thanks william

On the plastic oil pump gear subject, i think it would a good thing to check out the gear.
I have seen this on other models like Yamaha and Kawasaki with splits showing etc.
Thanks.
Steve.
