1971 Chibi Restore Complete
« on: July 03, 2024, 09:20:20 PM »
Recently finished my 1971 Chibi restore. This was my father in laws birthday present when he was 12 and spent over 40 years sitting in a barn. Was given to me in 2020 and have spent the last 4 years restoring it in secret.

His birthday is July 4th and tomorrow he turns 65 and will be giving this back as a gift to him!

Bike was fully pulled apart and put back together replacing every thing that needed replaced with NOS parts from eBay and Richard and many members found in the facebook groups for Bridgestone motorcycles. Its been a long road but im so excited to have it done.

frame, tank, rims etc was all done with powder coat. Engine was vapor honed to perfection. Bike is a perfect combination of new and old. Spent alot of time studying Chibi62's bikes he posted and took alot of inspiration from his beautiful restores.

Successful surprise! We stagged the bike in the garage and had him come over to "help" move some things in the garage that required two people.

His eyes lit up and could not believe how good it looked and ran. It's a core memory I will remember for years to come and so happy I could have made a memory like that with my father-in-law. We're looking forward to the family memories we will continue to make on the bike in the years to come between us kids and all the grandkids. Hopefully one day one of the grandkids are a motor head just like me and they can continue to keep it looking brand new again for the family forever.

We even tracked down a photo from the day he originally got it.
