clutch fluid
« on: February 09, 2024, 08:52:29 AM »
started working on my 100tmx, got it running great but clutch seems to slip some. now this bike has been sitting a decade and has 3k miles on clock. is there a best way to flush transmission and replace oil hoping the plates are just gummed up or sticky? before i think about clutch plates?

Someone may have put a modern friction-reducing engine oil in the transmission.  Replace it with old school plain 30W engine oil and double check the clutch adjustment per the manual (available on this forum).  It will probably be OK after a few miles and clutch release/applications.

I would use car engine oil, not sure what a good two stroke oil in the transmission would do. Others on this forum may have tried it and could let you know.

Also, automatic transmission fluid does work well as it is intended for clutches.
