Title: Rear shock servicing? I have them apart but dampening is bad
Post by: jjwithers on June 14, 2015, 10:45:23 PM
I have 2 sets of 175 rear shocks taken apart.
I now notice that when I compress one of them, it slides down, and back up with good resistance/dampening.
others do not dampen and just go straight down. Or feel very sticky.
Is there anything that can be done to rebuild the innards to bring proper dampening back to life?  I see that there is a top that with the correct tool, there is a part that can be removed on the lower section where the rod comes out.

Or... they seem to be about 295mm apart from eye center-eye center.  Has anybody used a Puch (moped) or lambretta set of shocks?  Those seem to be about 300mm apart.

I'd rather keep and restore the bridgestone shocks but if they are dead, i'll need to figure something else out.
