Title: Modern 5 wire voltage regulator
Post by: simonhk on January 09, 2020, 10:59:20 PM
Hi,
I have a Modern 5 wire voltage regulator from a Honda CN250 for my GTR. I just want to check how to wire it up. When connecting it to the generator blue, yellow and brown do you disconnect the brown wire from the ignition switch? or slice it in? Every thing else seems stright foward

According to the schematic I found, the brown is ground, red is positive and the green is tapped into the switched power circuit that powers instrument lights, etc.

        Re :- connecting the alternator.
The  blue and yellow output wires from the GTR alternator connect to any 2 of the 3 yellow wires on your Honda reg/rec unit.
The third, brown, output wire from the GTR alternator is only switched in when the lights are turned on, supplying additional power. It does this via the white wire which runs from the ignition switch back to the rectifier. So the third yellow wire on the Honda unit is connected to the white wire, not the brown.  Hope this makes sense.
             Brian.
