Looking for info on getting parts rechromed. I saw a reference to Browns Plating? Is this who the group has used with success? Is there someone else who others have used ? Thinking of having a tank done and maybe a few other parts. Also looking for a pair of pipe hangers in good shape for my 200 SS if anybody has some ??

I have this nos muffler stay that I haven't been able to identify yet.  It has 2 different diameter holes, with the smaller of them being threaded. It's approximately 4 3/4" long.

Let me compare this against mine . I know That there was a hanger like this on my Sport 60. Not sure if they were the same . Any experience with the chrome aspect of things ??

Brown's Plating is no longer in business.

I have been using Atlantic Coastal Plating. But there are a

Randy , thanks for your info as I had thought to contact Browns. I will try your guys . Do you send them pictures for a estimate or do you have to send the item to get an estimate? Saw the pics of your white bike . Like it !

Call them and they will instructed you on how to send photos.
From the pictures they will give you a range of the cost. Once
they have the actual item to chrome they will call you with the
cost before doing it. They are not cheap. But they do good work.

Ron Brown was great to work with. I have never found out

On this subject. I am guessing to rechrome a tank would be some of the most costly part of the process. I would guess you chrome the entire tank and then do the paint part afterwards?? Can anyone ball park the cost of doing a tank ? Has anyone ever tried using any of the chrome film out there to do the accent parts of the tank ?? While not original Might be good on a low budget resto. Just thinking out loud at the moment.

Ballpark for chroming tank

They chrome the entire tank. Then you use a etching primer
on the area you want painted.

Depending on the size(350/175) and condition of the tank it
will be between $400 to $600. (based on the last one I did
2 years ago)

If you have been real good maybe Santa will have it done for you.

Randy and Group , Randy is the only person I have seen that said he has heard from Richard just wondering if anyone else has. I am checking in about every 90 days and have not heard. I know the situation just wondering if he has returned at all or he is not going in at all . Just looking for a feel for the situation . Hope all had a great Holiday . Salt Lake Chrome has done a good job for me and many friends that restore British bikes. Chrome plating is super expensive but no choice in many cases. Its a dirty job with huge ecological impact and less people doing it every year. Still quite a few out there as evidenced by the response you got but less that 10 years ago. Good luck.
