18" Wheels for a 350
« on: March 01, 2019, 09:45:07 PM »
Hey guys, first time on the 175/200 side. I could use a little insight into the feasibility of what I want to do.

The plan is to adapt 18" alloy rim wheels to a customized 350, so I considered using 175/200 front spokes both front and rear. Also, since the front brake panels look to be the same I would like to use one as well to utilize the 175's speedo gearing. Any problems with this plan or helpful suggestions?

Does anyone have a 175/200 brake panel assembly (7134-8000) they are willing to sell, or just the speedo gearing?

Thanks,

Bob

A number of rim brands are available in 1.85, 2.15, 2.5, etc X 18 sizes, so there are lots of great choices including flange style rims - be aware of dimpled vs non-dimpled rims checking to see if the spokes will fit.  Pick your tire sizes and then use rims the correct width for those tires - all the tire companies have charts.  Buchanan's (no relation) will give you straight answers on what spokes fit what.  If you can find appropriate sized "MT" stamped rims, the spokes can be sealed and run tubeless for a lighter wheel assembly, but for example Excel (I think) only starts the "MT" profile at 2.5.

I'm just starting a 200 resto/mod that will get used regularly for a little around town hot rod.  I've wanted a little two stroke for years, and the right one finally came along.
