« on: March 07, 2012, 06:28:42 PM »
Bridgestone 200 engine.
I have a Bridgestone 200 in for engine work.
So i had some time and i started  the disassembly
Today,Split the crankcases and pulled the crankshaft
Out and you can clearly see the centre seal start to
Disintegrate.
Thanks.
Steve.

Keep the pictures coming on that 200.   Good stuff.  Steve, what symptoms was that 200 showing that helped you determine the crank was faulty?

Harry,
The Bridgestone was a bad starter it had new points timing set, carbs cleaned, good compression,
So i did a two stroke leak down test and that how i determine that the main seal was gone.
It was leaking past the seal, and air leak can cause a lean condition in the engine fuel- air
Mixture and result in the engine overheating piston seizure detonation etc.
In all the crankshaft is in good condition its just the main seal i will put a new crankshaft in.
The old crankshaft at some stage i will replace the seal.
Thanks.
Steve.

The clutch holding tool a special tool from Bridgestone.
It locks up the clutch so you can remove the retaining nut.
Which is a left hand thread, in the picture i am reassembling
The clutch etc.
Thanks.
Steve.
PS i put the clutch holding tool over the kick start shaft then
I fit the kick starter so it holds the tool in place so it wont slip.

Steve,

Looks like forward progress and a very tidy and neat assembly process.  Do you have any theories as to why the center seal failed (age and lack of use, improper parts/assembly, etc.)?
