New RS200 owner in Boone NC
« on: August 05, 2011, 04:51:36 PM »
Random phone call, guy said his uncle left him a ratty old house 21 years ago along with 2 motorcycles in the livingroom.  The gentleman said he had the bikes loaded in his truck and he was going to the dump or my house.  Paid him 100 bucks for a 1970 RS200 and a late 60's twin carb Honda CB160.  Both bikes are complete, free engines and no major rust.  This event actually took place last fall but I had several vintage projects on the burner so I parked the bikes in the corner. In the last 45 days I've finished a few bikes and sold them, now it's time to crack open the RS.  So far so good, working on the engine before I spend money on pretty stuff.  Got a list of parts, now I need to find them....guess I'll start with this site.

Welcome to the site.  This would be the place to start.  How about some pictures!  Makes the posts that much better.

The Bridgestone should be a little different to work on.  The other japanese bikes are great but its the same old, same old after awhile.  You will find people who never heard of a Bridgestone before!  Good luck and enjoy.  Harry

My buddys and I are getting together in October for a ride, all the bikes have to be less then 750 bucks (parts and the bike itself) and have to make it the whole weekend. Most of the riding will be on the blue ridge parkway. The other guys have made much smarter choices, I have the oldest bike by far.  I live off the BRP and ride it all the time, I've always thought it's a perfect road for a vintage bike.  I doubt I'll win the competition but my goal is to be under $750 and finish the ride. Then this winter I'll start on a proper restoration.
