What changes would make to your GTR or GTO if you had the backing of Bridgestone and all the money it would take to change.
On the engine i would increase the displacement to a 400 cc plus it would be a piston port with reed valves, electronic ignition,
And mono shock rear and 17 inch wheels and about 60 BHP that will do for now.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks.
Steve.

I would be happy with the following:
Electronic ignition, so it never needs attention.
Seal the alternator so it can't ever get wet.
Solve the clutch plate cracking problem, and reduce but don't eliminate the dry clutch sound.
SS Cables, no rust!
Integrate a true fuel filter into the petcock design.
Solve long term vibration issues with:
  Muffler mounting points
  Header to engine flanges
  Oil tank mounting
  Rear fender and tail light
  Motor mount bushings
  Carbs
Eliminate all non-red models, they were just mistakes anyway. ;D

More aluminum components to shave some weight, Rims, swingarm, lighter hubs, etc.  Disc brakes and lighter tank couldn't hurt.  Love the idea of electronic ignition/CDI. How about liquid cooled? Keep the general design and vintage appearance for sure. Paying attention, Bridgestone Corp.? This could be your 2014 retro release!   Mark.

Keep the same design (in red) but do something radical like beef it up to a 700 twin. This still wouldn't replace the GTR because I wouldn't change it.

I'm with you RW, no changes to the GTR. A new larger displacement machine with Bridgestone classic styling would be nice, but the GTR needs to stay the same.

If you are going to update it....

I would probably do a triple, with wet liners (meaning it would be water cooled), direct fuel injection, it would at least have to have reed valves if not rotary, maybe supercharged, electronic ignition would be part of the engine management system with coils for each cylinder.

Probably at least a six speed with a gear indicator, dry clutch, electric start.

The chassis, brakes and suspension need the most work.

In other words... a two stroke Triumph Speed Triple  ;D

If you don't change it for today's market, you end up with something like the new Enfields, kinda like a pitiful motorcycle zombie that has no real relevance.  If you can't make it the leading edge bike like it once was just leave it alone!

I have a tilt wheel for more headroom!
