Congrats on your acquisition Jeff. I saw this bike on Craigslist in NY I think, but being from AZ, it would have been tooooo long a hike.
Main things are to be sure the carbs are clean, I would remove the heads and check/lube the cylinders before trying to start, timing /spark check, these bikes are oil injected, so starting with premix until you are sure the oil pump is working properly is a good idea (all thes adjustments, etc are described in the service manual), not really outside any previous 2 stroke experience you may have. The rotary valve setup doesn't really add any secret sauce other than making the induction timing more predictablle/better controlled. Your bike appears to be in good shape. You'll find plenty of willing helpers here, so keep us informed as you get into it.
