Introducing myself .
« on: August 15, 2013, 12:54:46 AM »
Hi everyone,
I have been on the site for a few months and  realized I have never introduced myself, My name is Scott and I live in Phoenix Az. Last may I was looking through Craiglist for another small motorcycle to work on. I have a '83 Honda and a '71 Honda sl70, when I came upon a '69 Bridgestone bs-50 " Homer". I had never heard of a Bridgestone , so I went to look at it. When I got to the mans house and saw the bike and its near pristine condition I couldnt believe what I was seeing. It had only 68 miles and all original tires and tubes and seat cover. I am sure this bike has never been on a wet road or even sat in the sun, tires still have the little dimples and are not even weathered, has the polished aluminum Bridgestone plate on the back and all. The only damage is on the chaincase where the battery leaked many years ago and damaged the paint. When I asked him if it ran he jumped on kicked it 3 times and it started. We settled on $600 and he gave me the title and helped me load it up. Now I am trying to find out just how many on here actually have a Homer, I did talk to a guy in Oregon who has 1 but wondering how many more are out there. They seem to be the least popular
model. I have ridden it twice and it now has 71 miles. This is a real treasure to me, and just want to find out more about them.

Nice to hear there's another BSer in Arizona (I'm in Tucson). Good luck with your project, although it sounds like it's in excellent condition.

I have a '67 GTR that I bought in '74. That may sound good, but it is being brought back to life (meaning parts all over the shop)...;-) Hoping to get it back on the road next spring. I also have a second '67 GTR that I just hauled back from Phoenix. It's a wreck, but I've gotten the $'s that I spent back in good parts. BTW, the guy that I bought the parts bike from has a bunch of BS and Rockford parts that he haulled back to AZ from PA. You may want to check him out on EBay or at 2ndavenuescooters.com. You may find some stuff in the many bins...

Here's one of his listings as a pointer:
