Title: Alternative Gas Caps from other bikes?
Post by: jjwithers on September 09, 2016, 11:05:29 PM
I can't bring myself to buy a $125 gas cap.  I am seeing repro Honda gas caps for $15.
Are there any other gas caps that would fit a 175HS tank?

Not 100% sure which early Yamaha cap is the same. I think it's this one

It won't work. I tried one and wasted my money but it was worth a chance

It looks like it would work... what part didn't fit?  The OD too big, too small?   the inner part too big or small?

Try these

I bought the AUD $7.84 (including postage) from Uxcell in Hong Kong ( 3rd one) - it does not have a breather hole in the top of the cap, but breathes through the crimped area under the top of the cap. I have bought several items from this seller - however as the postage is cheap it takes a while to arrive.
Cheers
Ray

I have used HVC in the past for RD400 parts, and not had much luck with customer service or product quality, perhaps someone else will have better luck?

Ray,
that gascap fit like a glove!  Thanks for the tip!
Now if Only I could find some cheap tank emblems.
