Title: Bridgestone 60 Explorer?
Post by: rwgibbon on July 28, 2019, 10:16:14 AM
I have attached a letter from Rockford Motors offering dealers
a reduced price for the Bridgestone 60 Explorer. Is it the same
as a Bridgestone 60 Sport?

I have never heard of the Bridgestone 60 Explorer.

Thanks for your responses.

Randy

Randy, I noticed in the letter that Rockford was offering dealers a one only demonstrator sample at a discounted price.  I now know the story behind this emblem.  banana

This and the 90 "Witch" emblem are probably 2 of the rarest/hardest to find BS emblems out there!

Oop's, I forgot to add...... trying to find a 60 Explorer may turn out to become your very own BS Bigfoot quest!   popcorn

I wonder if they were green?  ;D ;D :o ;D ;D

No date shown on the letter (that I can see  8) ) .   Rockfords were obviously being pro-active in pushing this off-road model so I would guess 64 or 65, what do you think.  They missed the boat by a couple of years with the GTO !  ::) .                                               Brian.

Brian,

I think your right, either 1964 or 1965.

          Cheers, Randy.
Should have said, thanks for posting the letter. Here in the UK, we only ever got the basic models in very limited numbers for a short time, maybe 66-68. Posts like these help me build up a better picture of how well BS were doing in the US market at that time. Do you have any others ?                         Brian.

That letter and some other miscellaneous dealer info are available on Scott Noga's website http://www.bridgestonemotorcycle.com/index2.html.  Check it out if you haven't before.  (Turn your sound on.)

Thanks, Karl, have looked at Scott's site before but didn't notice that one.         Brian
