GTR 350 Clutch Basket Play
« on: December 20, 2017, 06:04:11 PM »
Once again I find myself encountering an issue I have no clue how to fix.  ??? As I disassembled the clutch on my bike to get to my rotary valve (if anyone knows the torque specs on the rotary valve cover pan head screws, I thought they were 5lbs/foot, I may be wrong), I found my clutch basket has some horizontal play. I will attach pics. Is this normal, and what might I be doing wrong? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

UPDATE: To anyone else who may worry about this (including myself), once the inner clutch is in place and tightened, everything is drawn together and the play in the clutch plate disapears. From what I can tell everything sould be good to go.

    Casey,
Manual (at back) shows torque for 6mm crosshead screws as 52-78 lbsinch   or 4.3-6.5 lbsft.

Re the clutch basket assembly, just make sure the toothed thrust washer went in behind the clutch centre. You wouldn't be the first who has lost or omitted this item.

Sounds like you are having fun, you are now an expert on GTR clutches  ;D                     Brian.
Unspoiled by progress.
I'm so glad I grew up in the 60s & 70s. I did so much stupid stuff and there's no record of it.............Anywhere !!
