Title: 350GTO
Post by: fahrkle on April 23, 2018, 12:37:30 AM
Just thought I would add that I picked up a GTO yesterday!!! My first one - the numbers show it to be one of the last ones built!

MOONPUP!!!!! Here are some pics of my shopping Friday! Can anyone tell me whats up with the tips of the pipes on the GTO? These are not cobbled on and are 100% perfectly symmetrical! The DT175 is 16S 0223 - if I read it right, this is one of the first ones built ever. The GTO is one of the last built ever The Taka only has 1200 original miles.

Wow, looks like "shopping Friday" was a busy & fruitful day for you!  Nice 8)

The exhaust tips are not correct. I've included a pic of a 1971 GTO that will show you what your bike looked like when new. It had chrome tipped baffles out the end.

I also noticed that the kick start lever & handle bars were not correct either. Fortunately, all these are available with a little dedicated searching. (and possibly some begging!  ;D )

This is what has been documented from our members on the site for the "White" GTO's...

Solid White GTO’s  1971
Earliest – 08012 (BRT-GTR)
Latest -    09503 (CL-100)

Where are you located Coxy? I would be interested in the swap of handlebars. I figured the kick starter was not correct. I am also missing the skid plate and center stand.

Somewhere else on this site are pictures of my GTO, but I'll repost here.

         That's a great days shopping, what a haul !!
Looks like a previous owner has welded an extension to the rear of the black outer pipes of the GTO.  I can see a screw in the side of the pipe, shouldn't be there, is this holding a baffle inside the pipe.  Original baffle/tail pipe was retained by a short 5mm stud underneath the pipe.

Pup,  Can we now safely say that a minimum of 1500 (possibly more) white GTOs were built.          Brian.

Nope, because bsforever's earliest numbered gold GTR sits smack dab in the middle of the earliest & latest white GTO's, indicating there was a unknown number (as of now) of the gold GTR's produced between your 8012 & CL's 9503 white GTO's.

Solid Gold GTR’s  1971
Earliest -  08753  (bsforever)
Latest -    09730  (farmerdl)
