1971 BS 200 MII SS
« on: November 15, 2014, 09:52:35 PM »
I have searched the site for the gold color Bridgestone used on their 1971 200 MII SS
and can not find it. Does anyone have the gold color code? I know it is different than the
Imperial Gold used on the earlier 350 GTO's.

I am in the process of restoring the bike and want to get the color correct.

Thank you for your assistance.

Randy

Hi Randy,
Do you have an original piece from the bike that paint has not faded badly on? If so there are many auto body paint shops that can photo match the color to create the correct formula. Might be worth a try. I have done it on other Bridgestone colors.

Thanks Mike.

The fuel and oil tank are both the original gold.

I was hoping that someone had a color code.

Thanks again.

Randy

Randy,
I had a set of tanks from a GTR with solid colors gold painted for Richard last summer. I think he still has the leftover paint. I had it mixed at a paint store in Columbus, In. that I use. If it is the same color on the 200's that might be a source.

Paint stores normally stick a label on the can with the paint formula, so it should be easy to duplicate, at least within the same brand of paint.

I did the color match with a clean part as Mike suggested at Auto Value 3 times and they hit the mark every time, not cheap but well worth it.
