Air Filter

Several 350 owner's on this site have replaced the air filter elemnt with universal foam cut to size. Question: How thick should this be if I go this route? I have some that is 5/8" thick; is that too thick? Thanks in advance.

Ken, pretty sure the foam I installed was either 1/4 or 3/8 thick. I used foam that was made for use surrounding an older style auto air filter.

 Maybe soak it in 90wt. and ring it out.
