This weekend is the annual
Phantom Canyon Run Sponsored by the Phantom Canyon Chapter of the Antique Motorcycle Club.
It is a two day ride through the Rocky Mountains from Colorado into Wyoming and back. It should be about 525 miles. It is my first time on this one and I understand they will have about 50 vintage bikes. Pretty cool.
I'll be riding the BS 350 GTR so It should be a good run for me. I did have some last minute scrambling to do though. For the past couple of weeks it would run fine until it got warm (20 minutes or so) then I would gradually lose one cylinder. I thought it was a coil so I switched them but had trouble on the same side. I finally took it to a buddy of mine who tested the condensers and found one was bad even when cold. I have owned a lot of old cars and quite a few old bikes and never had a condenser failure even though you know intuitively that they will fail eventually. I happened to have a Yamaha condenser with exactly the same mounting bracket so we soldered it in and it seems to be working fine.
I'll let you guys know how I make out and hopefully I won't return with it on a trailer.
