Thanks Steve, I think its cool that the Bridgestone name was originally derived directly from the founders name, Soichiro Ishibashi. Ishi being stone, and bashi for bridge. Turn the two around so they make sense in English and you have Bridgestone. I would like to know more re: the model designations. DT and HS are Dual Twin, and Hurricane Scrambler. MII RS and SS. Road ....?, and Street Scrambler? GTO and GTR?  Flex your knowledge!! Thanks,Mark.

I really do not know anything about the naming of the Bridgestone models. However I do know
that  DT or DUAL TWIN was from the fact the BS was proud that they did a 2 cylinder model of the
very successful 90. That is the reason they call the "new" 175 a dual twin, because it has a "twin"
or "dual" of all the 90cc engine parts.

The SR in the SR racers, was always know as a "Sports Racer"

I bet it would be neat to learn why they called the HMS a "Homer"

Why do you  think they called it a 'Homer"?
                      or
Why do you think they called the 350 the "GTR"?

And being no great Camaro fan...does that leave RS and SS to stand for Rally Sport and Super Sport?

Ok gang.... pay attention, I'm only gonna explain this once.

Back in the day when you went to your favorite Bridgestone dealer and checked out the 350's, you had two choices, either

Get The Red

or

Get The Other

Richard, do you think the Homer Motor Scooter was named after the philosopher? Maybe it just got you Home!  Mark.

I wonder if GTR stood for Grand Touring Road and GTO stood for Grand Touring Offroad?

I have a tilt wheel for more headroom!
