I'll get some pictures up eventually
I know.... excuses excuses.....
I did ride it up and down the street a few times to check it out. Here is a GTR riding tip: If you don't have the right side carb cover installed the open clutch will chew off the inside of your shoe. Yikes!
This is the Tama Iowa bike. When I first got it started it smoked A LOT, and as you can see in the vid it still is puffing a little out the right side. It probably has years of 2 stroke oil sitting in the bottom of the crankcase and the more I ran it the more it cleared up. Hopefully that problem will just take care of itself.
The left carb idle circuit was clogged, I pulled it off and cleaned it out, that helped a bunch.
I need to swap out some plug wires from one of the other bikes, the ones on there now are junk.
It runs better with new fresh gas
I had to replace the fuel lines, I went down to the local ACE hardware store and bought several feet of 3/16" ID...5/16 OD vinyl tubing and that seems to work fine.
When I first put it in gear the clutch plates were stuck and it killed the bike. I had to rock the bike a bit in gear to break them loose. After that, the clutch worked fine.
I need to check a bunch of stuff... like the timing, the tranny oil, the chain, the charging system and so on. I only rode it down the street as far as I would need to push it back if I needed to.
Some observations.... This is a tall bike, isn't it. Comfy though, and has a very nice ride quality to it. It seems to be geared rather tall, which is curious for a six speed. It might make a good road bike. And with six gears down... after a bit I had no idea what gear I was in, oh well
I might get to play with it more today. If I can train the cat to run the camera while I'm riding it you may get some action vids.
