Seat redo
« on: May 16, 2020, 01:12:11 PM »
A friend of mine is replacing the original foam (and a new cover) for my GTR seat. Although the foam is in good shape (see photos) I'll replace it anyway due to its age. He'll give me the pan so I can have it powder-coated after he cuts new foam pieces.

Have to agree, foam looks in remarkably good condition, shame to take it off. Obviously, to powder coat the base , it would have to come off.
The rear mounting lugs below seat don't look right. Have they been repaired or replaced at some time ?  Also, check for cracks in base on the sides about halfway along. A known weak point, the pan can break it's back at this point. Rear of seat should sit approx 40mm above the rear light, as the header photo on this page.   I've welded a 20mm wide strip along both pan sides to beef it up.

Unspoiled by progress.
I'm so glad I grew up in the 60s & 70s. I did so much stupid stuff and there's no record of it.............Anywhere !!
