My '67 GTR

Thought I'd post a few photos of my '67 GTR (with 3300 miles showing) as purchased a number of years ago. Why the owner painted it white is the $64,000 question! Besides the horrible paint, the bike seesms to have been almost completely taken apart at one time: Virtually every screw head shows damage, even the very tiny ones INSIDE the handlebar switch! Exasperating! I've recently started the restoration process, with the frame having been powder-coated, various parts re-chromed or re-zinced, new wiring wiring harness installed, and more. Will post on-going photos soon.

I have to admit that my GTR was white back in the day and I will be doing it again in white if I ever get to that point. Nice bike and good luck getting it restored nysz1b!

Hey Karl. It was plain white in the 70's (all I could afford in those days). I have a more elaborate white and silver/gunmetal scheme in mind. It will be very subtle. Frame will be silver as well...

Actually, I kind of like the plain white.

I think I'll pass on the full Batbike theme, though.  Mine was a little bit more subtle, moonpup - at least a little.

By the way, is that a Vetter fairing on your bike Karl. I have one that is very similar and one of the first few he made.

Yes, that's a Vetter fairing, originally designed for a 750 Honda. I actually still have it, one of those things I might put back on sometime just for fun.  It is amazing how much mechanical noise that engine makes at highway speeds, when it is reflected straight back to the rider. I took the fairing off every spring for warm weather riding; it was always kind of a relief to not hear so much engine noise.

I'm in the middle of a 67 GTR restoration myself and have a question.
I was cleaning up the underside of the fenders and once I got through the dirt I found that they were undercoated.
Is rubber undercoating of the fenders factory on these bikes?
Can't imagine someone pulling their fenders and brushing on undercoating.The chain guard had it too.
