BS 175 with Dyna S electronic ignition

Description: Dyna S electronic ignition adapted to a Bridgestone 175 with the "half-speed" alternator. The Dyna S is a used one from E-Bay. The pickups were modified to mount 90 Deg. apart by cutting some of the potting and bracket off each, the mounting plate is from a Bridgestone 175 with an "engine-speed" alternator. The trigger rotor had to be modified to add a second magnet 180 Deg. from the original and the point cam is turned down to just fit inside the rotor, then the rotor is mounted with loctite and a set screw to the cam. Converting a 175 or 350 with an "engine speed" alternator would be easier as the pickups can remain at 180 deg. and the single magnet rotor is what is needed.

There is an explanation in the BS Service Letter BSG-0046, downloadable from this site. The full speed alternators are the 2nd and 3rd versions shown. Guest	March 26, 2018, 09:09:32 PM I am new to the Bridgestone world. What is the difference between a half speed and engine speed alternator? I would like to do this to my 175 which has an idler gear.
