VIN and Frame numbers

Hi!

As I said in my intro I just bought a 350 GTR. There is a little plaque under the right side of the seat that has a VIN and the model number, and it states that it was made by Rockford. This plaque has two tiny rivets holding it to the frame. The VIN on this plaque matches the title I got with the bike.

Up on the steering neck there is a completely different number stamped into the metal. Any ideas what's going on with that?

It's normal. BS numbers do not match up.

Gonzo is right. I bought my titled bike from out of state. You can't imagine the explaining I had to do, to get it past the state inspection, when they looked at the steering neck numbers and they didn't match the title. I found myself repeating myself, about Bridgestone using the numbers on the metal tag for the ser. no. They never heard of such a thing!
