Seeing a lot of value in the 175/200
« on: March 08, 2012, 06:54:13 AM »
I thought I would start a fresh topic this morning.  Seems to me that anyone looking to get into a Bridgestone to actually ride and have fun with would do well with the 175/200 model.

They are readily available and there are a lot of parts out there.  NOS and used.  Not going to break your bank account either as there is arguably a discrepancy between 350 and 175/200 values.   I say that because both are comparably small bikes if you think about it.   I have both models.  I really like the look of the checkered 1971 200's.

i have a 1967 175 as well which has been put on the back burner i think that the price difference is much of a muchness in the restoration process but buying a complete bike the caparisons are huge  .. in saying that the 175 owes me around $4000 in restoration costs compared with around $2000 for the gtr not including purchase prices but they are different types of restoration projects as the 175 sat in basically a high humidity environment after being badly  crashed for 35   years its a rim up resto it was in very poor condition   i think you guys in the states have got it made .most of the cost in oz is for shipping e.g i paid $40 FOR A COMPLETE FRONT END FOR THE 175 BUT IT COST $160 TO GET IT HERE or there about  .at the end of the day they are so worth it
p.s i hit the caps lock that was a accident not a statement

If gas gets over $4 a gallon for the summer here a 175 getting 60+mpg seems more valuable than 35-40 mpg on the GTR.
Maybe my wife would let me get a 175 if I kept it under a tarp behind our house? :-*

If you get a Bridgestone 90 and keep the the speed to 18 mph you will get over 150 miles to the gallon .
Thanks.

They also made Bridgestone bicycles if things get really bad in the middle east.

Just don't put a Yamaha tank on it or a Shwinn sticker
