Post by: Liverpool Bob on April 06, 2012, 02:34:39 PM
Hi all , first time i have used this section. My 1967 dt 175 has an engine number N468, have any members come across numbers like this before, and also were vin nos the same as frame numbers. Thanks Liverpool Bob.

Hi, Bob,

Tht's not an engine number, it's some form of casting number, I think - Possibly to identify the die the crankcases were cast in. On all engines I've seen there are identical "N..." numbers cast into teh top and bottom crankcase halves.

The engine number, of the from "TA1-24567", is stamped into the transmission case, just in front of the kickstart shaft.
